NetJets, Inc., the world’s largest fractional-ownership business jet operator, has ordered 50 Embraer Phenom 300 light executive jets and taken options on 75 more. The contract – which Embraer said could exceed $1 billion in list-price value if NetJets exercises all its options – calls for the Brazilian manufacturer to develop a special version called the Phenom 300 Platinum Edition specifically for NetJets, according to an Embraer news release reproduced by ASDNews.
The contract was announced on Monday, the first day of the National Business Aircraft Association’s Annual Convention and Exhibition, held this year in Atlanta. The big NetJets order will not be added to Embraer’s official orderbook for the Phenom 300 until January, when additional contract details and conditions have been put in place. Deliveries of NetJet’s Phenom 300s are due to begin in 2013 and the Embraer light jets will join NetJets’ existing worldwide fleet of more than 800 light, midsize, and large-cabin executive aircraft.
